Primark Mini Haul

Ever since the Primark opened in Broughton Park, I just can’t get enough of shopping there. I literally spend hours in there working my way through each department and making sure I don’t miss anything. So I thought I’d show you what I came away with on my most recent visit.

Every girl ALWAYS needs tweezers – and it just so helped that these are rose gold so how could I say no? For £1 for 2 pairs of tweezers, these were an absolute bargain and actually work. Normally people say that the price reflects the quality, but that certainly isn’t true for these because they’re some of the best tweezers I’ve owned.

I’ve wanted to try the likes of the clarisonic face brushes for ages but I just can’t justify the price of them.. So when I saw this simple, hand version for £1 I obviously had to at least give it a go – so far, so good! The bristles are so much softer than they look, but you can vary the pressure you use to get the desired exfoliation you want. I tend to use this with my daily cleanser either morning or night to freshen up my skin.

Next on the shopping list – shoes. Or as me and my best friend like to call them: “momflops”, super comfy sandals that you wear with everything. First off are the Harry Potter flip flops which I reeeeallllyyyy wanted, but didn’t buy. And then I ended up going back for them.. £2.50 really isn’t going to hurt my bank balance, so no harm done.

Next up are the Birkenstock dupes which only cost me £4!!! I’d been considering investing in a real pair of Birks this year because I got so much wear out of my H&M dupes last summer. However, thanks to the British weather I held off.. And aren’t I glad I did now?! Saved myself major pennies for a pretty convincing pair of sandals that are so comfy I can wear them throughout an 8 hour shift!

And, of course, I didn’t leave without any clothes, because that’s just not me.. I came across the cutest Game of Thrones t-shirt with this ‘Mother of Dragons’ slogan on. And as a big fan of Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of her name, the Unburnt, Queen of Mereen, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons (!!!) I couldn’t leave it there. Especially not for £7!

And last, but not least, my Harry Potter nightshirt.. I went into Primark knowing full well that I wanted some Harry Potter pyjamas of some sort. I tried on different bottoms and wasn’t all that keen on the fit. I’m much more of a night shirt girl so was happy to find this on my second pyjama hunt, for only £10.

That concludes this Primark mini haul! But the odds that I’ll be back with another one soon are pretty high – I just can’t get enough!

Brook Mollington Banastre Hotel & Spa Review

I recently visited the Brook Mollington Banastre Hotel and Spa as I had booked some treatments there for me and my best friend for her birthday.

The Health Club & Spa facilities are located towards the back of the Hotel property, but there were plenty of signs which made finding the right entrance super easy.

Upon arrival, there was a slight mix up as I had booked the 2 for 1 Spa Sensation Day and had initially been told that we would have to have our treatments separate. However, on the day we were told we would be having our treatments at the same time which we much preferred! So it turned out to be a happy mistake. This did mean we were early for our treatments, but this gave us time to enjoy the other facilities that were available.

After being directed to the changing rooms, we got spa prepared and found some loungers by the pool. To kick off our day we relaxed in the steam room for a bit which left my skin feeling so soft. Afterwards, we attempted the sauna, however, I soon realised contact lenses do not agree with saunas so I sat by the pool with my book instead.

At 11.30 we made our way back up to the reception as it was time for our treatments. We took a seat in the dining area where we were then greeted by our spa therapists. The 2 for 1 Spa Sensation Day package included a Kaeso Hot Stone, back neck and shoulder massage, a Kaeso Taster Facial including a stress melting scalp massage, and a Jessica Mini Manicure including polish. Upon arrival we had been asked to fill in a form where we indicated what sort of pressure we’d like our massages to be and any skin concerns we had, which meant our treatments were tailored to our needs.

We were both taken into individual rooms where we would receive our massages and facials. I’ve never actually had a professional massage before but I will most certainly be getting one again! It lasted approximately 30 minutes and I wish it had been longer – it was so relaxing and relieved tension I didn’t even realise I had as she worked her way up my back and neck. I have had a facial before and was really looking forward to another one. My therapist used really fruity scented products including cucumber, pomegranate and strawberry – which are just a few of my personal favourites. Once she’d completed the facial, she begun the scalp massage and as I expected, I fell asleep midway through this treatment as I was so relaxed.

Finally, we were both lead back into the same room where we were given a glass of water and received our mini manicures with a wide variety of choices of nail polish colours. I went for a shimmery, rose gold colour (’cause you can never go wrong with that) and Leus went for a coral (which she always gets!) After our manicures were completed we were taken to a relaxation room which was only lit with candles to set the mood. This room was perfect to just sit back and bathe in the ambience.

We then made our way backdown to the pool and tried out the hot tub at the therapists’ suggestion. Once again, I was more than pleased with yet another facility at this spa. Once we’d finally finished relaxing we got changed and left to get some food and to do some shopping to finish of our lovely, girly day!

I would definitely recommend this spa if you live in, or near to, the Chester area. They offer many different packages to suit different sized parties and individual needs. Head over to to find your perfect spa day!

Beauty Bay|Mini Haul

I only recently discovered Beauty Bay, but since then I have had to restrain myself from spending way too much on their website! The best part about Beauty Bay for me is that it stocks hard to get brands. I am from the UK, so any international brands such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, Gerard Cosmetics, Dose of Colours etc. are harder to get a hold of – or end up costing a bomb in shipping and customs. If you are a big beauty addict then I strongly suggest you get on their website and have a look now! For my first little lot of purchases, I stuck to brands that American YouTube gurus always seem to use, and I wanted to try out. Here’s what I got:

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion 29ml, £12.50

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis stuff is amazing for anyone who suffers from breakouts and blemishes, like I do. Recommended by Kylie Jenner on Snapchat, it has been a big hit on all ‘best skincare products’ lists of late. So, unfortunately it comes as no surprise that it is currently sold out; however, I’m sure it will be restocked soon as I can imagine it is in high demand. At first the product confused me; it has a thicker pink consistency and then a clear liquid consistency which appear to sit separately. The directions clearly stated NOT to shake the bottle, so I’m assuming the clear liquid helps preserve the pink lotion? Don’t quote me on that one though. So, I use a cotton bud to get a small amount of pink lotion which I then dot on top of any spots or blemishes. Overnight, the lotion dries out that are and helps reduce the appearance of any spots and redness. I really love this product, especially seeing as it’s the only product I’ve used that has had such fast action!

Morphe M158 Angle Liner/Spoolie Brush, £2.50

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAUnfortunately, this product is also currently unavailable.. I’m so sorry! But again, they do restock items so just keep an eye out if you do want this. Basically, I needed a spoolie to brush my eyebrows, and for £2.50 I didn’t see why I shouldn’t get this one that doubles as an Angle Liner brush – which I use to apply powder products to my eyebrows! I’m a sucker for double-ended brushes, so there was no chance I wasn’t going to get this.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Invasion, £9.50

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’d heard such good reviews about this liquid lipstick so decided to try one out. There are currently 11 shades available on Beauty Bay, and I chose to go for Invasion. Admittedly, on the website it looks a little less purple than what it looks like in real life. However, I was searching for a ‘greige’ lipstick, which I suppose you could say is almost lilac. I am really happy with what the colour actually looks like on though. The consistency is really soft, quick drying, and doesn’t feel uncomfortable once dried. My lips do get quite dry anyway, so liquid lipsticks do tend to dry my lips out unless I prep them properly – just a little advice for others with dry lips.

Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘That Glow’ Glow Kit, £39.00

IMG_2249.jpgOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASo, I saved the best for last! I finally got my hands on this beauty. I did have to refrain from purchasing both of the palettes, because they do both have gorgeous colours. I ended up choosing this one as I wanted these bronze tones for a more summery look. Although they are all obviously shimmery as it is a glow kit, I have used the darker tones to bronze and contour. The size and weight of this palette really surprised me when it arrived! Honestly, the value for money is incredible. Effectively £10 per product, you can’t go wrong! The pigmentation is also amazing, which I kind of expect from any Anastasia Beverly Hills products anyway. I know for a fact I’ll get my money’s worth out of this palette, because even without a tan I love how these colours look on my skin. I’m also considering doing a makeup look with this palette – as it can also double as eyeshadows! – so let me know if you’d like to see this 🙂

As always, let me know what you thought! Also let me know if you’ve tried any of these products, your views on them, and if you have any alternative options you prefer. I hope you enjoyed my mini haul! I know I haven’t done many recently as I gave up shopping (clothes, shoes, accessories) for lent. But now that’s over, expect to see one soon… Probably a combination of what I’ve allowed myself to buy since!

Liverpool Bloggers’ Party: The Brands

At the end of my last post, I briefly mentioned the goodie bag that all 10 bloggers received at the end of the event. Now it’s time for you all to see exactly what was in the bag, and from which brands!

Liverpool Bloggers

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALiverpool Bloggers is run by Steph, who organised the whole event and put the amazing goodie bags together. She provided the Baggu bag so that all the other gifts could be kept safely together. They were all personalised with a little name tag so that we all received the right gifts off each brand. Inside we all received a hair wrap, which every girl needs so that you can let your hair dry naturally occasionally. As you can see, mine was bright pink, which I love because it’s super girly and perfect for pamper days. We also got to keep the lipstick pens that we wrote our personalised messages to each blogger with. I love mine and wish I could use it on an everyday basis, but unfortunately mine stopped working half way through my first message (sad face). I still wanted to keep it for memory’s sake though!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHere, I photographed the beautiful message cards that Steph provided for us. I thought they were so cute and creative and would be great for any one who is into crafts! I also decided to bring home a pink lip selfie prop, which again is for memory’s sake.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFinally, one of my favourite gifts from the night. This beautiful photo inso-frame. I absolutely love a good inspirational quote and this one especially. I definitely believe in following your dreams, and only doing something if you love what you’re doing! I’ve got this up next to my t.v. so that I can be inspired by it everyday.

The Vintage Corner

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFrom the Vintage Corner, we were all lucky enough to receive a £10 gift voucher! I’m so happy with this because I absolutely adore vintage shops, and £10 can go a long way. I’ve seen a lot of their stuff posted on Twitter so you could have a sneak peek there. If you want to check The Vintage Corner out in person, they are located at 61 St Johns Road in Waterloo, Liverpool.

Inky Trail

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAInky Trail is a unique online store, mainly focussed on beautifully designed, logo t-shirts. As this brand is growing, more items are becoming available such as bags and more still to come. We all received 10% of our next shop at Inky Trail. Keep an eye out because I will be making my first purchase as soon as I can choose between the fab designs from this brand!

Gifts For Me And You

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAEach blogger received a unique, handmade gift from Gifts For Me And You. My gift was this bright, paisley patterned cushion with mini pom-poms all around the edge. This cushion suits me down to a t because I am a big fan of patchwork quilts which goes perfectly with this cushion. The colours are so fun and match my favourite duck egg blue and pale pink bed covers! We all also received 10% off our next visit, which means we can all get another beautiful gift either for ourselves or friends or family. I think I will be using mine for a gift because with them being handmade it feels like the gift can be a bit more personal. If you’d like to see what else Gifts For Me And You have to offer (from 22 crafters!) head over to 120 Seabank Road in New Brighton!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANoctua has a gorgeous range of handmade crystal jewellery, and they also offer different crystals for luck, protection, happiness, etc. I have loved crystal jewellery for quite a while now, as I love the boho feel they give to an outfit. I received this necklace in my goodie bag, which also has a gold leaf with the crystal. I feel like this necklace has a real earthy feel to it which is great because I love all earthy and neutral toned colours at the moment! So no doubt this is going to go with all and any outfits I wear.

Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABeauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols really outdid themselves with their collection of goodies! When I was handed the personal beauty bag they’d provided, I couldn’t believe the weight of it. In my bag I received the following:

Gucci Bamboo Tester: I’m a fan of Gucci perfumes anyway! I’ve previously owned Gucci Guilty and Gucci Premiere so I was excited to try this one. It did not disappoint! It has a very feminine, dusky smell – which is exactly what I want in a perfume!
Nails Inc nail varnish: This didn’t have a colour or number on it, but it is a neutral-mink-grey colour, which you already know is what I’m all about!IMG_1528.jpg
he-shi Express Liquid Tan: I go through phases of using fake tan and not using fake tan. But just because Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols gave me one, I’m gonna get back to fake tanning! This smells lovely, unlike a lot of fake tans. It has a creamy consistency which is almost like a body lotion so I’ve got a feeling this is going to be easy to apply!IMG_1524.jpg
Estes Lauder Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser, Soft Clean Silky Hydrating Lotion, and Resilience Lift Firming/Sculpting Face and Neck Cream: After removing my makeup, I’ve been using these as a three step skin care routine. Firstly, they smell unreal. Secondly, they are super soft and hydrating on the skin. Thirdly, they’ve reduced the redness and blemishing that I’m prone to. What more can you ask for? IMG_1529.jpg
Cellex-C Very High Protection Broad Spectrum Oil-Free Sunscreen: As someone who suffers from combination-oily skin, and breaks out if sunscreen goes anywhere near my face, I am extremely excited to try this! It feels almost like sudocreme, just not as thick and smells a lot nicer. It doesn’t have a strong scent at all, but it just smells like cream.IMG_1530.jpg
Environ AVST Travel Pack ((Cleansing Lotion, Moisturising Toner, Hydrating Lotion, Vitamin A, C & E Body Oil): I’ve saved what I think is the most exciting for last! I’ve heard so much about Environ skin care products recently and can’t wait to try this. The AVST range provides products contain vitamin A and antioxidants that nourish the skin. I wanted to try these and the Estee Lauder products separately so that I could get a real feel for what they do. Once I’ve finished my Estee Lauder products I will be trying and reviewing these so keep an eye out!

I hope you enjoyed seeing everything in my goodie bag as much as I did! If you want to know a bit more about any of the brands or products, don’t hesitate to ask! Also, if you’d like to see what outfit and makeup I wore to the event, keep an eye out for my next post!

My Skincare Routine

img_11621.jpgA daily skincare routine is the key to keeping your skin in the best condition possible! This is my current skincare routine, and it is made up of products I’ve found to work with my skin. It is not directions for what everyone should do!

In the Morning:

Before I was blessed with Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, I used to just use a cotton pad and clean my face with the Garnier Micellar Water. Although this was fine, I feel like using a cleanser means I’m being more proactive in taking care of my skin. You simply apply the cleanser onto dry skin and then use the muslin cloth and warm water to remove it (and any dirt) from your face. I find that a pea size amount will cover my face. It leaves your skin feeling so soft and fresh! It doesn’t even feel like you need to use moisturiser afterwards, but I do, just to make sure my skin is properly looked after. Firstly I apply the Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream under my eyes as that is a dry, problem area for me. For my full face, I normally use the Elizabeth Arden Skin Balancing Lotion as it really does what it says in the title, but I have run out (sad face). So instead, I’ve been using the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Moisturiser, which you can instantly feel tingling in your pores once you’ve applied it!

At Night:

To remove my makeup, I use a cotton pad and the Garnier Micellar Water. The particular cotton pads I’m using at the moment were £1.49 from Bodycare and are a large oval shape – a much better size to remove you make up than the usual small round ones! As I said before, this product is great for getting product off your face but I feel like you need something extra for a good, deep cleanse! So I will use the Liz Earle cleanser just as I would in the morning. This also helps make sure ALL of my makeup is off before bed. I also do the same moisturising routine as I would in the morning. I won’t always use the Elizabeth Arden 8hr Cream, but it’s amazing for if you have really dry and/or cracked lips as it will treat them overnight.

I have the St. Ives Blemish Fighting Apricot Scrub for oily/blemish prone skin,  which I use four times a week. This helps get rid of any dead skin cells, treats any angry red blemishes, and helps rejuvenate my face. I find it easiest, and quickest, to exfoliate whilst I’m in the shower as I can just apply it, scrub, and rinse with no fuss of trying to get my head under the sink tap!

I will use a body moisturiser after every bath or shower to keep my skin soft and hydrated. I don’t suffer from oiliness on my body like I do on my face, so I use Aveeno’s Moisturising Creamy Oil. Firstly, oil based moisturisers are perfect in summer to keep your skin hydrated, prevent peeling, and therefore helps you keep your tan! Secondly, it smells like almonds which is one of my all time favourite scents. If you don’t like the smell of almonds or marzipan then I’d avoid this body moisturiser, otherwise, GO GET IT NOW!

I know my skincare routine is pretty simple, but to be honest, I’ve tried the whole “exfoliate, cleanse, tone, moisturise” and it just didn’t do anything for me. I think it is definitely worth experimenting with your skincare routine because you need to find different products and a routine that is tailored to your needs! If you have any tips or suggestions for great skincare, or even any questions, leave a comment below!

Beauty Wish List

With the New Year comes a sense of wanting change, whether it be your hair, style or makeup. I feel like I need to update my beauty products as I’ve been using the same products for the past few months, and I’d like to try something new. It’s important to get out of your comfort zone and try outside of the box sometimes!

Urban Decay Naked Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer, £17.50

All of my favourite beauty vloggers (Jaclyn Hill, Nicole Guerriero, I’m talking about you!) have given great reviews for this product and they always have a flawless finish. I’m a big fan of Urban Decay products anyway, I own the Naked 3 palette, the beauty balm and I’ve previously owned the liquid foundation but sadly ran out! Urban Decay are a cruelty free and environmentally friendly brand which in my eyes is always a bonus! Once I’ve gone through my stock of Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer, I think this will be my next concealer purchase!

Available at: Urban Decay

Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Setting Spray, £21 IMG_1127

Carrying on with Urban Decay products, I’ve read mixed reviews on this oil control setting spray but would like to see how it works on my skin. I have previously used the Chill – Cooling & Hydrating Setting Spray which was too dewy for my skin type – especially seeing as I was using it in summer which is my oiliest season for obvious reasons! I also currently have MAC Fix+ which is fab for setting my makeup, but once again, I would not recommend this product for oily skin types, I’d say it’s for normal to dry skin types. You can purchase their travel size for £9 so I think I’d get that one first to see if it worked. Hopefully this will finally be the makeup setting spray for me!

Available at: Urban Decay

bareMinerals Mineralixirs Facial Cleansing Oil, £21IMG_1129So, when I purchased my bareMinerals foundation, this was the product the beauty assistant used to remove the makeup I already had on. I was a bit uncomfortable at the thought of her using an oil on my face, however, I was pleasantly surprised at how soft it was and it didn’t leave any oily residue on my face at all! I was also shocked at how much makeup it removed (ew, I know). I’m currently trying to work my way through the products in my drawer, but once I’ve used them up I’ll be purchasing this cleaning oil!

Available at: bareMinerals

Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Powder, £29IMG_1130This is another product that my YouTube beauty gurus are currently recommending. It is also the one product on this wish list that I have already ordered. I purchased mine off BirchBox as I got 20% off my first purchase from their shop, which was so handy as it is a little on the expensive side. So, about the product; it can be used over the top of your makeup to set your full face or even just to set concealed areas to accentuate your contour. I’ll be using this on the oiliest parts of my face as I’ve seen that it can be quite dry which is exactly what I’m looking for. I would say this product is great for full face coverage for oily skin types, and maybe for dry skin types just use it for baking concealer and highlighted areas!

Available at: BirchBox

Stila Baked Cheek Duo Pink Glow, £15IMG_1128I very recently saw a blogger, Lorna Luxe, with this blush on in a picture on Instagram. It gave her such a beautiful glow, and instantly I thought “I need this!” so had to ask her what it was. I do love my MAC Warm Soul so I would probably alternate between the two if I did purchase this one. I also think mixing the two would create a beautiful Spring/Summer look. I’m thinking about purchasing this when we’re into the warmer Spring months!

Available at: Stila

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit, £65IMG_1131Now, for my final product is a very expensive, forever on the wish list item, that I’ll probably never be able to justify buying. However, it is absolutely gorgeous and I would love to try it! The colours are beautiful, the textures are appealing, and even the packaging looks super luxurious. I’ve seen the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Zoella with this palette and they’ve had nothing but praise for it! This is one of those products that you would start sending family and friends links to, to drop the hint on what they should get for your birthday!
