Brook Mollington Banastre Hotel & Spa Review

I recently visited the Brook Mollington Banastre Hotel and Spa as I had booked some treatments there for me and my best friend for her birthday.

The Health Club & Spa facilities are located towards the back of the Hotel property, but there were plenty of signs which made finding the right entrance super easy.

Upon arrival, there was a slight mix up as I had booked the 2 for 1 Spa Sensation Day and had initially been told that we would have to have our treatments separate. However, on the day we were told we would be having our treatments at the same time which we much preferred! So it turned out to be a happy mistake. This did mean we were early for our treatments, but this gave us time to enjoy the other facilities that were available.

After being directed to the changing rooms, we got spa prepared and found some loungers by the pool. To kick off our day we relaxed in the steam room for a bit which left my skin feeling so soft. Afterwards, we attempted the sauna, however, I soon realised contact lenses do not agree with saunas so I sat by the pool with my book instead.

At 11.30 we made our way back up to the reception as it was time for our treatments. We took a seat in the dining area where we were then greeted by our spa therapists. The 2 for 1 Spa Sensation Day package included a Kaeso Hot Stone, back neck and shoulder massage, a Kaeso Taster Facial including a stress melting scalp massage, and a Jessica Mini Manicure including polish. Upon arrival we had been asked to fill in a form where we indicated what sort of pressure we’d like our massages to be and any skin concerns we had, which meant our treatments were tailored to our needs.

We were both taken into individual rooms where we would receive our massages and facials. I’ve never actually had a professional massage before but I will most certainly be getting one again! It lasted approximately 30 minutes and I wish it had been longer – it was so relaxing and relieved tension I didn’t even realise I had as she worked her way up my back and neck. I have had a facial before and was really looking forward to another one. My therapist used really fruity scented products including cucumber, pomegranate and strawberry – which are just a few of my personal favourites. Once she’d completed the facial, she begun the scalp massage and as I expected, I fell asleep midway through this treatment as I was so relaxed.

Finally, we were both lead back into the same room where we were given a glass of water and received our mini manicures with a wide variety of choices of nail polish colours. I went for a shimmery, rose gold colour (’cause you can never go wrong with that) and Leus went for a coral (which she always gets!) After our manicures were completed we were taken to a relaxation room which was only lit with candles to set the mood. This room was perfect to just sit back and bathe in the ambience.

We then made our way backdown to the pool and tried out the hot tub at the therapists’ suggestion. Once again, I was more than pleased with yet another facility at this spa. Once we’d finally finished relaxing we got changed and left to get some food and to do some shopping to finish of our lovely, girly day!

I would definitely recommend this spa if you live in, or near to, the Chester area. They offer many different packages to suit different sized parties and individual needs. Head over to to find your perfect spa day!

For The Dreamers..|Birchbox

IMG_2733.jpgBack at it again with the Birchbox! This is gonna be my last Birchbox post for now though.. I decided it was time to take a break and cancel my subscription. Even though I LOVE Birchbox, I felt I was getting a lot of the same types of products and it just wasn’t wowing me as much as it used to.. Anyway, things ended on a good note as I did get a lovely little selection in my box this month:

1. Spectrum Collections ‘Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge’, £4.99IMG_2726.jpgI already have one of these wonder sponges from Spectrum Collections, but I was happy to see that I would be getting an extra from Birchbox. I’ve tried Real Techniques and Lottie London beauty sponges, and so far the Spectrum Collections is my favourite. It is the perfect combination of firm but bouncy, which makes it easy to apply and blend makeup.

2. theBalm Cosmetics Staniac in ‘Beauty Queen’, £10IMG_2728.jpgI am a big fan of multi-purpose products like this! Not only is it a lipgloss but it’s a cheek stain too. It leaves a really nice glossy colour for both purposes and would be so good as a travel product because it means you only need to take one product for lips and cheeks. I was previously disappointed with theBalm Cometics eyeshadow/blush I got in one of my Birchboxes, but I actually really like this product!

3. Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner, £11.50IMG_2729.jpgI always seem to get shampoo and conditioner combinations in my Birchboxes – even my friend mentioned how often I get them! Not complaining though because I’ve been a fan of each one I’ve received – this one including. Both products smell great and leave my hair nice and soft with a lovely shine. How I can tell if a shampoo is good is by the amount it lathers up – and this one passes the test!

4. Vasanti ‘Brighten Up!’ Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator, £26IMG_2730.jpgUsually I really like trying face scrubs.. But since discovering the St.Ives Apricot face scrub nothing quite compares. Unfortunately, this product is no exception. It is a lovely, gentle scrub that seems to nicely cleanse the face, but it just doesn’t compare to St. Ives!

5. Rituals Tao|Wai Wang Mild Exfoliating Body Scrub, £19.50IMG_2731.jpgThis product.. Is my new favourite body product. I really liked the Rituals body foam I got in my first ever Birchbox, so I was excited to receive this – I was not disappointed. For a sample product it is a really good size! It’s not full sized but I know I’ll get a lot out of it.

6. Vita Coco Coconut Oil, £9.99IMG_2732.jpgThis was a little extra I got this month! I haven’t actually used it yet, but I think I’m going to use it as a hair mask.. I’ve seen a lot of people recommend using it for your hair, so I’ll let you know how it goes!

So, for now, this is the last Birchbox post you’ll see from me! But I have a lot of other posts planned.. I’ll try not to be gone too long again!

The Huntsman: Winter’s War|Review

So I’ve been away for a little bit due to having a mountain of uni work! But I thought I’d comeback with something fun; a film review.

I recently went to watch this film as I really enjoyed Snow White and the Huntsman. This film also had the same producer as Maleficent, which I LOVE.

Even though I already had pretty high expectations for this film, it still managed to surprise me! I was really impressed with the narrative as it wasn’t too predictive yet it wasn’t hard to follow at all. I kind of expected it to be a straightforward Disney film – but I was wrong! It was actually really funny, and I didn’t expect the comedy side that it had. There were so many witty one liners and innuendos – so much enjoyment for older viewers!

I was also pretty impressed by the cast members. Of course we knew Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron would be a part of this with it being the prequel to Snow White and the Huntsman. And if they weren’t already fabulous enough (and so easy on the eye), Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain were cast as the other leading roles. Emily Blunt is in my top 5 favourite actresses because not only is she an amazing actress, but she is such a funny person and seems so genuine. I love her. I was excited to see Jessica Chastain in this film because of her role in Lawless. She was really good in that, and even better in Winter’s War. Better, because she played a kick-ass, strong, independent woman who didn’t need no man! Then came the dwarves; Nick Frost, Rob Brydon and Sheridan Smith – need I say more about the comedy aspect? So hilarious, me and my best friend, Leus, were in stitches.

I also have to mention the wardrobe! Charlize and Emily were obviously dressed in elegant, regal gowns throughout the film as they were the Queens. Charlize rocked her character, Ravenna’s, gold gowns once more and looked flawless. Emily’s character, Freya, was the ice queen who was always dressed in blue and silver gowns and had white hair. She looked beyond beautiful, a real life Elsa. Although the Huntsmen’s outfits were more suitable for battle, they were still made to perfection. I genuinely believe Chris would look gorgeous in anything, so I may be slightly biased.. Jessica looked like the warrior her character, Sara, turned out to be. I kind of wish I’d been in this film.. Even as production cast.. Because everything was done so well – in my opinion anyway.

This film was probably an 8.5/10 for me, because I laughed so much. I will be buying this as soon as it comes out on DVD! Obviously I loved it, and I would recommend anyone to go and see it!

If you have any suggestions on any film or book reviews you’d like to see, please let me know 🙂

Blooming Marvellous

‘Blooming Marvellous’ – this is the title for the lovely, Spring inspired, April Birchbox collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. I absolutely loved the design of my box this month, which was even better because you were given the choice between two! I picked the more tropical colour palette rather than the pink once simply because I thought it was so cute! Even the information booklet inside had a beautiful floral design to match the 25% off voucher that Rifle Paper Co. provided.

Parlour by Jeff Chasten Detangling Leave-In Conditioner, RRP £17

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASo obviously this is a sample size and the RRP is for the full size product, as with the rest of the products mentioned! I personally think this is generous for a sample size and I’m really pleased with it. I previously received a Parlor shampoo and conditioner in my January Birchbox and really liked them so I was happy to see this in my box! It does what it says it does and I really love the smell. I would definitely recommend this product for anyone who likes this sort of spray for their hair!

Kueshi Foot Care Cream, RRP £12

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAgain, a very generously sized sample product that I’m really pleased with! It’s the perfect product for this time of year as the sandals are starting to come out. I love Tea Tree Oil so the smell of this product is fab for me. After just one use I noticed a difference thanks to this product as it really softened the skin on my feet! I’ve just been using this at night if I feel like my feet are getting particularly dry, and the next day they’re soft again.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse, RRP from £17

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAYet another great sized sample! I feel like Birchbox were extra nice with their sample sizes this month. This product is described as being hair, face and body oil – however, I have only used it for my hair! I love using oil to treat the ends of my hair and this product is lovely! Keeps my hair soft and smelling really nice. The formula for this oil isn’t just your average oil! For once, I didn’t have oily residue on my hands after applying it to my hair. This makes me think that it might not be so greasy if I did use it for my face.. So I might use it for my drier areas and eyes and let you know what it’s like!

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Eyeliner in Black, RRP £11

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’m pretty sure that this is a full size product because its the same as any other eyeliners I’ve tried! It is amazing! It has a crayon like texture which gives it such a smooth and easy application. It also comes out pitch black rather than more charcoal like some black liners that you have to build up. Although, it is easily smudged if you want it to be so you have the best of both worlds. It did sort of smudge throughout the day, but what eyeliner doesn’t?

Benefit Cosmetics Dew The Hoola, RRP £22.50

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI was so excited about this product being in this month’s box!  had been looking at buying the full sized product until I saw this could possibly be in my Birchbox. I’m glad I managed to get a sample size before actually making the purchase because I personally feel like I would have been wasting £22.50. I normally love Benefit, but this product just isn’t for me.. I don’t know if it’s because I’m not used to liquid bronzer and need to practice, but I just didn’t feel like this looked good on me. I will definitely be sticking tho the Hoola powder bronzer instead!

Rifle Paper Co. Notepads

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASo, not everyone received these in their Birchbox as they were optional for an additional fee. Now anyone who reads my blogs knows that I love stationery, so this was a no-brainer. Of course I bought them. They are two, beautifully designed, A6 notepads that I can add to my collection! And no doubt I will buy more from Rifle Paper Co. in the future!

Thanks for reading, I do really appreciate it! Let me know if you’re subscribed to Birchbox, or any other beauty boxes, and what you received this month or would’ve liked to receive!

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been a heavily anticipated film. Franchises such as these always are; and in turn, the production companies (Warner Bros. in this case) always heavily anticipate the reviews and the gross income from the opening day, weekend, and week. I’m pretty sure Warner Bros. were more than pleased with the opening day which took $82million – yes you read that right. So is the film really that good?

batman v superman.jpg

Let’s start with the main characters, because that’s important to me: I’ve got to be honest, I was not happy about Ben Affleck replacing Christian Bale to begin with! I’m still not 100% convinced – probably just because I’m so used to Bale being Batman – but Affleck surprised me. Firstly, he clearly worked out, A LOT, for this role (I’m only human); and secondly, he perfected his brooding down to a T. Some critics have said there was too much brooding, but I personally feel like that is who Batman is! So maybe I could get used to Affleck as Batman. Henry Cavill returned to his role as Superman, which I have no complaints about. Man of Steel proved that Cavill could fill Superman’s boots, so he had nothing more to prove to me. Now, my favourite part about this film? Wonder Woman’s big-screen debut! Hallelujah, she’s finally arrived. And Warner Bros. could not have picked a better person for the role than Gal Gadot. She perfectly embodies the gorgeous, Amazonian woman that Wonder Woman is described as. I liked her a lot! She was sassy and not at all a damsel in distress. Thank you Warner Bros. for depicting a strong female role! I mean, I know it’s Wonder Woman and obviously she’s strong.. But I mean even other than her identity as Wonder Woman. I also have to acknowledge Jesse Eisenberg’s performance as Lex Luthor! He played the perfect psycho, even down to the little things like mannerisms and twitches. For me, he was a a great villain. I’m not gonna go as far as to say the best, because.. Heath Ledger as the Joker? Unbeatable in my eyes.

So, the film itself? I would never give a film with Batman AND Superman in lower than a 5/10, just based on the characters’ reputations. So, obviously, I had high expectations for this film. There are only a few issues I had.. It was 2 and a half hours long to begin with! And a lot of it just seemed to be a waste; for instance, why did we need to see the Wayne’s deaths, AGAIN? We already know Batman’s story.. I felt there could have been more Batman versus Superman scenarios, considering that’s the name of the film. However, there was definitely plenty of action and no one can say this wasn’t an action packed film. On the flip side, some of the action was a little bit too CGI/special effects for my liking. I like good, old-fashioned fist fights! I cannot deny that the special effects were done perfectly though, I’ve got to give the production team credit for that. Other than these little nit-pickings, I really did enjoy the film. So overall, I’d probably rate Batman V Superman a 7/10.

Have any of you been to see it? What did you think? Let me know if you’d like to see more film/tv series reviews on my blog 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASo this month’s Birchbox was all about the beauty of science, and the search for products that actually work. Here’s what I received in my box:

Philip B Drop Dead Straightening Baume

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERATo be completely honest, I haven’t used this and I doubt that I’m likely to. I’ve never really been a fan of products that are for straightening as I already have naturally straight, and quite flat hair. I want products that give my hair volume and texture. Products like this baume normally leave my hair looking a bit greasy too. If I do try it, I’ll be sure to let you all know the results 🙂

This Works Pillow Spray in Deep Sleep

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’ve heard great things about this product! I sleep really well, and never struggle to get to sleep – for this reason, I gave this to my nana because she has difficulty sleeping. So far, she is loving this product and has said that it does help her get to sleep faster, rather than her usual lying awake, tossing and turning for ages.

Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Mask

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’m a big fan of face masks at the moment! Especially ones like this that you just place on your face – because there’s a lot less mess. I used this at night after I’d taken all my makeup off and I was so pleased with the results. It was really refreshing and definitely lived up to it’s moisture boosting title. It didn’t leave me oily or leave any greasy residue; just hydrated and soft.

Which Shave Crave Shaving Cream in Coconut

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’ve mentioned before that I can be prone to sensitive skin, so I was really excited when I saw this in my box. Shaving my legs can leave them irritated, and this cream really helped to hydrate my skin – unlike shaving foams which tend to leave my skin drier and therefore more irritate! Glad that I’ve discovered something to help!

Arrow Boost Color Enhancing Lip Balm

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis was one of my favourite products in my box! Recently, I’ve been loving lip balms because the cold weather is NOT being kind to my lips. But colour lip balm is even better! I love pairing it with a lip liner for a really natural look. This lip balm is a lovely neutral pink, so it looks perfect on its own or paired with lip liner.

ModelCo More Brows

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAnd on to my other favourite product from this month’s box; MORE BROWS. As you all probably know by now, Benefit’s Gimme Brow is probably my favourite eyebrow product of all time! This ModelCo product is pretty similar. I do love this one; however, there’s one difference that doesn’t put it above Gimme Brow on my favourites. I find that once I’ve applied More Brows, it goes quite stiff. Some people might love this because it does keep them in place. Personally I just prefer Gimme Brow’s more natural finish.

Let me know if you like my monthly Birchbox product reviews – or if you’re getting sick of them! Do any you have suggestions for any other beauty box subscriptions?

Birchbox|Home Edition

IMG_1220Since subscribing to Birchbox I have become a big fan of their online shop. By reviewing products you receive in your monthly box, or products that you purchase from the Birchbox shop, you can earn points that you can then use towards more purchases. I decided to buy this Home Edition box as I thought it was super cute and I had a 20% discount code for my first purchase from their shop.IMG_1217Pictured above are just a few of the items I received in this box: a La Cocotte Paris Chick Chick Oven Glove in Ochre; two Jamini Table Placemats in Blue Wave; Rose Et Marius Hand Soap in Mademoiselle Rose Fleurie; Marlene English Scone Mix; a Coming B Birdie Recipe Holder; and Kitchen Trotter Lemon Curd and Recipe for Soft Lemon Cakes with a Lemon Curd Centre.

I really love baking so I was excited to try both the recipe and the mix I received. I have since made both and will definitely be using the Kitchen Trotter recipe again. The scone mix, on the other hand, turned out nice, but I still much prefer my nana’s homemade scones! The Birdie Recipe Holder is perfect for baking as it keeps the recipe out of the way of any spillage. IMG_1218The rest of the items I received were: a Birchbox Home Tea Time Mug; a mini Labo x Birchbox Home Tea Time Tray; a Mini Labo x Birchbox Home Tea Time Ball Infuser; Kusumi Tea ‘Tsarevna’; and four Garden Trading Measuring Spoons.

I’d never tried infused tea before – which is odd because I love tea! – and it turns out that I really enjoyed this particular one! The flavours were lovely and I’d definitely purchase it again. Because I love tea, I also really liked this cute tea mug. Most mugs these days say ‘but first, coffee’, so it was nice to get a tea version! The tray is perfect for my bedside table to keep my mug on so that I keep my bedside table clean (which my nana is happy about).

Overall, I really liked this box. It was meant to be £25, but with my discount I only paid £20. I personally think that for what you get in the box, it is a really reasonable price. It would make a perfect gift for anyone who loves to bake or drink tea like me. Birchbox also offer a ‘Monsieur Edition’ for men, which would make a perfect gift for any men in your life! Head over to to check out their amazing products for yourself!

Disclaimer: I am in no way sponsored by Birchbox. They are brand that I truly love and would recommend to anyone. Their subscription, shop and customer services have all been amazing in my experience, which is why I continue to write about them!
