Brook Mollington Banastre Hotel & Spa Review

I recently visited the Brook Mollington Banastre Hotel and Spa as I had booked some treatments there for me and my best friend for her birthday.

The Health Club & Spa facilities are located towards the back of the Hotel property, but there were plenty of signs which made finding the right entrance super easy.

Upon arrival, there was a slight mix up as I had booked the 2 for 1 Spa Sensation Day and had initially been told that we would have to have our treatments separate. However, on the day we were told we would be having our treatments at the same time which we much preferred! So it turned out to be a happy mistake. This did mean we were early for our treatments, but this gave us time to enjoy the other facilities that were available.

After being directed to the changing rooms, we got spa prepared and found some loungers by the pool. To kick off our day we relaxed in the steam room for a bit which left my skin feeling so soft. Afterwards, we attempted the sauna, however, I soon realised contact lenses do not agree with saunas so I sat by the pool with my book instead.

At 11.30 we made our way back up to the reception as it was time for our treatments. We took a seat in the dining area where we were then greeted by our spa therapists. The 2 for 1 Spa Sensation Day package included a Kaeso Hot Stone, back neck and shoulder massage, a Kaeso Taster Facial including a stress melting scalp massage, and a Jessica Mini Manicure including polish. Upon arrival we had been asked to fill in a form where we indicated what sort of pressure we’d like our massages to be and any skin concerns we had, which meant our treatments were tailored to our needs.

We were both taken into individual rooms where we would receive our massages and facials. I’ve never actually had a professional massage before but I will most certainly be getting one again! It lasted approximately 30 minutes and I wish it had been longer – it was so relaxing and relieved tension I didn’t even realise I had as she worked her way up my back and neck. I have had a facial before and was really looking forward to another one. My therapist used really fruity scented products including cucumber, pomegranate and strawberry – which are just a few of my personal favourites. Once she’d completed the facial, she begun the scalp massage and as I expected, I fell asleep midway through this treatment as I was so relaxed.

Finally, we were both lead back into the same room where we were given a glass of water and received our mini manicures with a wide variety of choices of nail polish colours. I went for a shimmery, rose gold colour (’cause you can never go wrong with that) and Leus went for a coral (which she always gets!) After our manicures were completed we were taken to a relaxation room which was only lit with candles to set the mood. This room was perfect to just sit back and bathe in the ambience.

We then made our way backdown to the pool and tried out the hot tub at the therapists’ suggestion. Once again, I was more than pleased with yet another facility at this spa. Once we’d finally finished relaxing we got changed and left to get some food and to do some shopping to finish of our lovely, girly day!

I would definitely recommend this spa if you live in, or near to, the Chester area. They offer many different packages to suit different sized parties and individual needs. Head over to to find your perfect spa day!

What People Forget to Tell You About Growing Up

Growing up and becoming an ‘adult’ is something that all of us have to do – unfortunately. However, there are many things that are completely unexpected that I think we should be told about!

No one cares about your GCSEs. Not university. Not potential employers. Not even distant family members – because they only care about if you’ve got yourself a full time job yet.

Being an adult is expensive – rent, bills, car (insurance, tax). A yacht. Ok, not the yacht, that’s just wishful thinking. But seriously, why is it so expensive just to live like a normal person? All I want is to be able to move out and have my own space, but you have to have money to do that..

Which brings me to my next point – forget buying treats for yourself. You’re lucky if you have any money left at the end of the month. I have become the definition of ‘too much month left at then end of my money’. It’s quite sad.. I’m quite sad..

Everyone expects you to have a plan. And I’m on about a long term one.. I mean, you’re gonna be lucky if I have plans for the day, never mind five years. So, sorry Phillis, but no, I don’t have any plans to get married anytime soon.

Because everyone expects you to settle down, get married, and have kids. Like I said, I can’t even afford myself, soo.. I’d rather not do that, tysm.

I’m not trying to be negative at all here, but let’s be real, being an adult isn’t all you think it is when you’re 7. It does have some perks (mainly alcohol HA) but give me back the simple life any day – especially if it means not hearing the words ‘unsuccessful’ and ‘experience’ in the same sentence ever again.

I hope you enjoyed this post, even though I did have a rant, it’s just a bit of fun! Please comment if you have something to add to the list because I love hearing your thoughts 🙂

Wednesday Words of Wisdom

Hi! So I know I’m seriously slacking with blogging at the moment.. But I don’t think I was prepared for the amount of work I have to do for my Masters (Uh-oh). I’m getting there though. I thought I’d make this a more motivational post as that’s something I’m in need of right now. Here’s what I try and stick by in life:

1. Do not forget your roots.

2. If you’re nice to people, doors will open!

3. Have a dream – if you don’t have a goal, you’ll be wandering through life aimlessly.

4. Never moan or complain (if you can help it).

5.Don’t take life too seriously.

6. Do everything by the book – you must pay your own way in life.

7. If you make mistakes, try and look forward – it doesn’t do you well to dwell on the past.

8. Excellent manners don’t cost a damn thing!

9. Never compromise your family life to achieve your dream – family means everything (blood & extended).

10. Go out and do your best – that’s all you can do.

I know this was short and sweet, but sometimes we just need a positive reminder to give us a boost in the right direction. Let me know in the comments of any little sayings or anecdotes you like to live by!

And I promise (to you and myself) I will get back on top of my blogging game!

My Top 5 Travel Bucket List

Santorini Island, Greece –

Santorini sea viewSantorini sunsetOia, SantoriniThis island is absolutely beautiful. It probably has some of the most aesthetically pleasing architecture I ever. The sea is as blue as the rooftops and I just think this would make for the most relaxing holiday. The views include a volcano and neighbouring islands; you can visit sandy or pebbled beaches; and if you explore the island you will find beautiful, domed churches that reflect the island’s culture. The fact that this island is essentially what’s left of a volcanic eruption really fascinates me and I think it would be an unforgettable experience to wander the island of volcanic rocks and visit the lagoons. I am also a massive geek when it comes to Greek mythology, so I would love to nerd up on all the history whilst I was there.

Hong Kong, China –

Hong KongHong Kong chinese boat sailing at nightFor such a big, industrial city, Hong Kong – to me – is breath taking. It amazes me that such beauty can still exist amidst all the concrete. Hong Kong is well known for its skyline and deep, natural harbour. I feel that Hong Kong speaks for itself, as it is full of things to do and places to see: the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra – you know what? The list goes on! I would really be the biggest tourist on my visit to Hong Kong because I’d want to see all the recommended places to visit, learn about the culture, and do a lot of shopping!

Las Vegas, USA –

Las Vegas Welcome Sign with Fireworks in BackgroundLas Vegas skylineI don’t think this one will come as a surprise to anyone! Casinos, restaurants, resorts, shopping – it offers everything you could wish for for an action packed get away. I would 100% want to go and see some shows as well; I mean those show dancers are an absolute dream! To me, this is more of a city break sort of holiday where you fill your timetable up with shopping, casinos and just having fun rather than it being a tourist kind of holiday. Now I’m 22, the only thing stopping me is how much it would cost. One day..

MoscowSt Petersburg.jpgRussia – where do I start? Moscow, Siberia, St. Petersburg.. I should probably just do the Trans-Siberian Express because there is that much I want to see! All the amazing architecture and old churches. I first fell in love with Russia because of Richelle Mead’s book series Vampire Academy. My favourite books out of the series are set in Russia, which lead me to do some research on everything she mentioned in the books. Ever since I have really wanted to go and travel there.

Mauritius –

MauritiusMauritius BeachMy last, and number one, place I want to visit: Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean. Extremely similar to the Maldives, Mauritius is warm and humid with endless, gorgeous beaches that have perfectly clear blue water. This island is home to so many beautiful resorts that you wouldn’t be short for choice. Although it is pricey, I think that the experience would most certainly be worth it. You can get involved in different water sports, diving and snorkelling, go to spa retreats and even shop! This would be the most perfect romantic getaway or a relaxing break with friends.

With Summer coming, I thought this would be the perfect post to do! Hopefully it will give some of you some inspiration if you still don’t know where you want to go this Summer yet. I’ve been considering doing a mini series of the top places to visit and include some of their top rated attractions – so let me know if this is something you’d like to see!

What My Twenties Have Taught Me (So Far)

Ok, so I may only be 22, but I have definitely learnt a lot – mainly about general life – in my twenties. I think university has a big part to play in this because you really grow into yourself as a person throughout the experience. I wanted to do a bit more of a personal, but motivational post, and thought of this – because I’m sure there are many people who can relate.

1. Believe in Yourself, Trust Your Instinct.

I think this one does come mainly with age, but also with accepting yourself. I wish at 16 I would have had the confidence that I do now to believe that I can achieve my goals, no matter how big they are. You have to trust that you know what’s best for yourself, and although other people may have good advice, they don’t always have good intentions. You know what’s in your best interests – don’t let people make you think you’re not good enough, or even too good, for anything. Sometimes you’ve just got to be your own biggest cheerleader!

2. Work Hard.

This is key to everything. In school it was always so uncool to work hard and enjoy your work. Why? Hard work pays off, and there is nothing wrong with being ‘a nerd’ when it gets you where you want to be. Again, I wish I’d learnt this lesson earlier. I’m not saying that I haven’t always worked hard, but sometimes I used to not bother because I didn’t want to be ‘a geek’ and get picked on – which leads me to my next lesson!

3. Forget About What Other People Think.

Who cares what they think?! You can’t please everyone, and if you do, you’re probably not being true to yourself which you always should be! You are who you are, and that is nothing to be ashamed of. Clearly I don’t mean this point as in forget about other people’s feelings! But just don’t let people put you down. This also goes hand in hand with no.1, believe in yourself and other people’s opinions won’t even bother you. This is the reason I finally got round to starting my blog, which I’d been thinking about doing for years. I held back because I didn’t want people to laugh at me or tell me that my blog was stupid. Now, I just think, they’re entitled to their opinion, but I love blogging so why wouldn’t I do it?

4. Love What You Do, Do What You Love.

Whatever you do in life, make sure you’re passionate about it. There is no point doing something if you don’t love it because it’ll just make you miserable. I know we all gotta do what we gotta do to live, but there is no reason you can’t get your dream job! Again, just work hard – even if this means working full time hours whilst doing night classes, because sometimes that’s what it takes. I’m studying a Master’s, working as many hours as I can get, blogging for my own site, paid, and for free, all so I have experience and qualifications in the right field!

5. Put Yourself First.

This is really important! You have to look after yourself or you’ll make yourself ill. You also have to put your happiness above that of others, because you are the most important person in your life. Don’t think this is a selfish sentiment, because it isn’t! Only you can make a life for yourself, reach your dreams, and only you can look out for your best interests.

I hope you enjoyed this post! It is a bit different, so let me know what you think in comments 🙂

Beauty Trends Rebooted

Recently I’ve been seeing beauty trends ‘coming into fashion’, that I actually used to use when I was in my pre-teens – and didn’t fully understand makeup. However, this time round they actually make sense to me, and I actually understand their purpose.

Coloured Mascara

Remember the days when blue mascara was all the rage? I do. I used to beg my nana to let me wear it to school – and thank god she didn’t. Benefit is probably the brand that has explored this trend the most with their They’re Real collection, which even has coloured eyeliners. Although I still wouldn’t wear a blue mascara for everyday, these coloured mascaras and eyeliners can create such dramatic looks. I would definitely use them for blog purposes; I would also love to see them in YouTube videos; I think they would look amazing on someone who has coloured hair and used a matching coloured mascara; and of course, they wouldn’t look out of place on the runway. I think they’re down to personal preference, but I would definitely love to experiment with these.

Clear Mascara

Another mascara trend that I still don’t get why I loved when I was younger. It genuinely did NOTHING for the lashes. Nowadays, clear mascara is making its comeback thanks to the love of brows! It is a perfect product to keep those strays in their place. I know you can buy actual brow gel etc, but sometimes, clear mascara is actually cheaper and not quite as stiff or heavy! The things you learn about multiple uses of beauty products still surprises me.

Mascara Primer

Last mascara related trend – they’re the ones coming back I swear! Mascara primer, or what I used to think it was, white mascara. When I was about 12-15, I actually used to use this in the correct way. Remember the Loreal double-ended mascaras? I was obsessed. Then I just sort of grew out of it. However, I’ve seen mascara primers starting to come back again. Urban Decay’s Subversion Lash Primer is the main culprit for this being on the list, but Loreal still stock their double-ended mascaras as well! Basically, the purpose of this product is to prime your lashes and help create a longer and thicker, false lash effect. The purpose of this hasn’t changed, it just seems to be a ‘thing’ again.

Makeup Sponges

I used to get packs of these from Boots or Superdrug, but never actually understood what I was meant to do with them! I used to try using them dry and they just never worked. Well now I understand why! Although everyone has been raving about the Beauty Blender, these little sponges essentially do the same thing. Once damp, they help blend your makeup and remove any excess product to give a flawless finish.

So there you have it! If you know of any other beauty trends that have made a comeback, or dual uses for a product, let me know in the comments.

February Favourites|The Fangirl Edit

As it was International Women’s Day yesterday, I thought I’d dedicate my February Favourites to all the women that I’ve had appreciation for this month! So, let’s get to it:

Jaclyn Hill – The Textured Bob Cut

Jaclyn Hill is hands down one of my favourite YouTubers of all time. She’s funny, she’s sassy, and she’s so down to earth! Her makeup is ALWAYS on fleek, and her outfits are always kept chic. Her hair is a red colour that I will always be envious of because there is no way I would be able to keep up with the maintenance it takes to keep that kind of colour fresh – no matter how badly I want red hair! And if her hair wasn’t already bomb enough, she went and got a brand new cut which is to die for: a shoulder skimming, texture bob. I’ve been wanting to cut my hair for ages (my hair appointment feels like it’s an eternity away!) and Jaclyn just made me want it done yesterday!

Gina Shkeda – GinsMakeup

Whilst I’m on the subject of YouTubers, I HAVE to mention this lady. I only recently came across her YouTube channel – but I’m obsessed with her. I can relate so much to her attitude, and genuinely think she could be my spirit animal. Her dry sense of humour and sarcasm is what I love most, after her serious makeup skills that is. She is so entertaining which makes you want to watch all her videos in one go. I highly recommend checking her out!

Lorna Luxe – Those Balenciaga Boots

Ok, so now onto bloggers. As a blogger myself, I am always looking for new bloggers  to follow! Lorna Luxe is the blogger that I’ve been most obsessed with this past month. Her style is so simple yet so chic. Her Instagram will give you endless inspiration (especially if you’re a blogger), but be prepared to want to purchase everything on there. I’ve been obsessing over a pair of Balenciaga cut-out ankle boots she’s been wearing a lot recently, and it just depresses me that I know they’re way over my budget!

Rachel McAdams – That Oscars Dress

rachel-mcadams-vestido-oscar-2016I don’t even know where to start. She absolutely slayed over any red carpet slayings we’ve ever seen before. The colour, the material, the cut, the fit – I mean, I’m already planning my December graduation outfit based on this look, I kid you not. For me, she was the best dressed of the night because it was modest, yet risqué with the thigh slit. I think it’s the colour that did it for me in the end though – a beautiful emerald green that complimented her fair complexion.

Steph Bewley – Liverpool Bloggers

Version 2

Stephanie Bewley is the founder of Liverpool Bloggers (follow them on Twitter here and here), a brand that she has created in order to bring North West bloggers and brands together. I attended her first event which was a great success (you can see my reviews here and here) which she organised herself! If you are a blogger or brand from the North West that’s looking for exposure and new opportunities, you NEED to sign up to the Liverpool Bloggers’ mailing list. Also, follow Liverpool Bloggers on Twitter as you will see all news there too, and tag them in tweets to get your blog posts retweeted to a wider and potentially new audience. I feel like I’ve had so much support with my blog from Steph and it’s really nice to feel that you’re not alone!

The Chic Blog

I first reached out to The Chic Blog in January as they were looking to feature new bloggers on their blog. They got back to me straight away and we decided on a blog post; ‘The Ultimate Chic Guide to Strobing‘. I was helped through all processes and provided with guidelines for the feature. The Chic Blog then reached out to me asking if I’d like to write another feature. It was so nice to know that my work was appreciated and that I had been asked back! This time we settled on the post; ‘The Chic Guide to the ‘Lob’‘. This has given me great exposure to their blog audience, and I have also had promotion from The Chic Blog on Twitter (follow them here). Again, it is so lovely to have support and know that someone is reading your work!

Shoutout to my best friend Leus, too. She’s probably my best follower, who never fails to read my blogs and give me feed back. Love you boo xo

Thanks for reading! Share your love for your favourite females in the comments!
