Primark Mini Haul

Ever since the Primark opened in Broughton Park, I just can’t get enough of shopping there. I literally spend hours in there working my way through each department and making sure I don’t miss anything. So I thought I’d show you what I came away with on my most recent visit.

Every girl ALWAYS needs tweezers – and it just so helped that these are rose gold so how could I say no? For £1 for 2 pairs of tweezers, these were an absolute bargain and actually work. Normally people say that the price reflects the quality, but that certainly isn’t true for these because they’re some of the best tweezers I’ve owned.

I’ve wanted to try the likes of the clarisonic face brushes for ages but I just can’t justify the price of them.. So when I saw this simple, hand version for £1 I obviously had to at least give it a go – so far, so good! The bristles are so much softer than they look, but you can vary the pressure you use to get the desired exfoliation you want. I tend to use this with my daily cleanser either morning or night to freshen up my skin.

Next on the shopping list – shoes. Or as me and my best friend like to call them: “momflops”, super comfy sandals that you wear with everything. First off are the Harry Potter flip flops which I reeeeallllyyyy wanted, but didn’t buy. And then I ended up going back for them.. £2.50 really isn’t going to hurt my bank balance, so no harm done.

Next up are the Birkenstock dupes which only cost me £4!!! I’d been considering investing in a real pair of Birks this year because I got so much wear out of my H&M dupes last summer. However, thanks to the British weather I held off.. And aren’t I glad I did now?! Saved myself major pennies for a pretty convincing pair of sandals that are so comfy I can wear them throughout an 8 hour shift!

And, of course, I didn’t leave without any clothes, because that’s just not me.. I came across the cutest Game of Thrones t-shirt with this ‘Mother of Dragons’ slogan on. And as a big fan of Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of her name, the Unburnt, Queen of Mereen, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons (!!!) I couldn’t leave it there. Especially not for £7!

And last, but not least, my Harry Potter nightshirt.. I went into Primark knowing full well that I wanted some Harry Potter pyjamas of some sort. I tried on different bottoms and wasn’t all that keen on the fit. I’m much more of a night shirt girl so was happy to find this on my second pyjama hunt, for only £10.

That concludes this Primark mini haul! But the odds that I’ll be back with another one soon are pretty high – I just can’t get enough!

Beauty Bay|Mini Haul

I only recently discovered Beauty Bay, but since then I have had to restrain myself from spending way too much on their website! The best part about Beauty Bay for me is that it stocks hard to get brands. I am from the UK, so any international brands such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, Gerard Cosmetics, Dose of Colours etc. are harder to get a hold of – or end up costing a bomb in shipping and customs. If you are a big beauty addict then I strongly suggest you get on their website and have a look now! For my first little lot of purchases, I stuck to brands that American YouTube gurus always seem to use, and I wanted to try out. Here’s what I got:

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion 29ml, £12.50

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis stuff is amazing for anyone who suffers from breakouts and blemishes, like I do. Recommended by Kylie Jenner on Snapchat, it has been a big hit on all ‘best skincare products’ lists of late. So, unfortunately it comes as no surprise that it is currently sold out; however, I’m sure it will be restocked soon as I can imagine it is in high demand. At first the product confused me; it has a thicker pink consistency and then a clear liquid consistency which appear to sit separately. The directions clearly stated NOT to shake the bottle, so I’m assuming the clear liquid helps preserve the pink lotion? Don’t quote me on that one though. So, I use a cotton bud to get a small amount of pink lotion which I then dot on top of any spots or blemishes. Overnight, the lotion dries out that are and helps reduce the appearance of any spots and redness. I really love this product, especially seeing as it’s the only product I’ve used that has had such fast action!

Morphe M158 Angle Liner/Spoolie Brush, £2.50

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAUnfortunately, this product is also currently unavailable.. I’m so sorry! But again, they do restock items so just keep an eye out if you do want this. Basically, I needed a spoolie to brush my eyebrows, and for £2.50 I didn’t see why I shouldn’t get this one that doubles as an Angle Liner brush – which I use to apply powder products to my eyebrows! I’m a sucker for double-ended brushes, so there was no chance I wasn’t going to get this.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Invasion, £9.50

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’d heard such good reviews about this liquid lipstick so decided to try one out. There are currently 11 shades available on Beauty Bay, and I chose to go for Invasion. Admittedly, on the website it looks a little less purple than what it looks like in real life. However, I was searching for a ‘greige’ lipstick, which I suppose you could say is almost lilac. I am really happy with what the colour actually looks like on though. The consistency is really soft, quick drying, and doesn’t feel uncomfortable once dried. My lips do get quite dry anyway, so liquid lipsticks do tend to dry my lips out unless I prep them properly – just a little advice for others with dry lips.

Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘That Glow’ Glow Kit, £39.00

IMG_2249.jpgOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASo, I saved the best for last! I finally got my hands on this beauty. I did have to refrain from purchasing both of the palettes, because they do both have gorgeous colours. I ended up choosing this one as I wanted these bronze tones for a more summery look. Although they are all obviously shimmery as it is a glow kit, I have used the darker tones to bronze and contour. The size and weight of this palette really surprised me when it arrived! Honestly, the value for money is incredible. Effectively £10 per product, you can’t go wrong! The pigmentation is also amazing, which I kind of expect from any Anastasia Beverly Hills products anyway. I know for a fact I’ll get my money’s worth out of this palette, because even without a tan I love how these colours look on my skin. I’m also considering doing a makeup look with this palette – as it can also double as eyeshadows! – so let me know if you’d like to see this 🙂

As always, let me know what you thought! Also let me know if you’ve tried any of these products, your views on them, and if you have any alternative options you prefer. I hope you enjoyed my mini haul! I know I haven’t done many recently as I gave up shopping (clothes, shoes, accessories) for lent. But now that’s over, expect to see one soon… Probably a combination of what I’ve allowed myself to buy since!

Pay Day Beauty Treats

On pay day I always treat myself; as a shopaholic, it’s my prerogative. This pay day though, I did actually need to restock on some of my beauty products. I was good in the sense that I stuck to Boots for my shop where I knew there would be offers on and that I could earn some advantage card points.

Sanctuary Spa

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI actually needed some new shower gel and body lotion and decided to try something new. I’ve never used Sanctuary Spa before but I’ve always heard good things about them. I decided to go for this combination simply because they have a watermelon-cucumber scent; which are two of my favourites.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’ve been searching for a nice body scrub for sensitive skin recently as the skin on my legs has been quite irritated. Sanctuary Spa was recommended to me by one of my friends who also has sensitive skin and said that it had always worked for her. I chose this Air-Whipped Soufflé Scrub because it’s nothing like I’ve ever tried before. It is really soft unlike some scrubs that can feel too harsh on your skin.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis beautiful set? It was free. Because I purchased two products from Sanctuary Spa, I got this lovely gift set. This is why I love Boots!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’ve been wanting to try a loose powder for ages now! Unfortunately when I ordered a Laura Mercier one off Birchbox it was actually out of stock in the warehouse, and it seems really hard to get hold of! So, I decided to try a budget version first just to see if I liked it. I chose Rimmel because I already wanted to purchase their transparent pressed powder just for everyday wear to set my liquid foundation. As I was already at the Rimmel make up stand I also decided to get a concealer from there. I already have the Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer, which is great for under the eyes and highlighting, but I wanted a separate concealer for covering blemishes and spots.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI was only really looking for one lip liner from Rimmel which was Cappuccino (bottom) because Sarah Ashcroft swears by this colour for her everyday nude lip. However, as you do, I saw more colours that I liked and I decided to buy all three! Addiction (top) is a lot like MAC’s cremestick liners which I really like as they go on so easy! Tiramisu (middle) is another pencil that I just liked the colour and name of.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI wanted one of the Baby Lips from Maybelline because I love that they’re a lip balm with a tint to them. I do get quite dry lips, and as I like to just wear lip liners sometimes, I thought tinted lip balm would be perfect to use. I got just peachy which was the nudest pink colour I could fine. I also wanted a brown eye liner as I am loving neutral eye looks at the moment and wanted something a little less dramatic than my black felt liner; so I chose the master precise liquid eye liner in forest brown. Maybelline was on 3 for 2 so I also decided to purchase their dream blender. I’m not the biggest fan of using a beauty blender for foundation, but I do love it for concealer and blending my makeup. I thought this one would be handy has it also has a handle.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOk, so my final purchase is a YouTube Beauty Guru favourite that has been on trend recently. I thought I’d try it out, and I love it! It’s Nivea’s Men’s Post Shave Balm, which can also be used as a primer for your makeup! This bottle is 100ml, and a little goes a long way as I use a little blob for my whole face. It does smell like men’s aftershave, but I don’t mind that. It’s so soft, it makes applying my makeup so much easier, and it holds my makeup on all day. With this product, I actually feel like it’s protecting my skin – which is what a primer should do!

New Look Haul|Pt.2

So, the second half of my New Look haul was some beauty bits that I wanted to try out. The cosmetics range has had really good reviews and I thought I’d see for myself what they were like. I love neutral coloured makeup; so you will see nude browns, nude pinks, and a lot of the colour ‘mink’ in this haul!

Pure Colour Lipstick

1. Camel, £3.99

2. Mink, £3.99

I know these look extremely similar, but I promise they’re different. Camel is more nude brown, and Mink is more nude pink. These lipsticks are a lot more pigmented than I expected – in a good way! They can be a bit more drying than some lipsticks but I just put some balm on top to rehydrate my lips.

Pure Colour Matte Liquid Lipstick

1. Sweet Rose, £3.99

2. Mink, £3.99

The colours of these liquid lipsticks are really nice on. You do have to be careful to apply it evenly or you can see lines of where it’s been applied thicker/thinner. Again, this product is quite drying for me (it is matte), so I apply a bit of lip balm with it. The best part is that you barely have to reapply this product throughout the day; I worked a 6 hour shift and still didn’t need to reapply after it!

Pure Colour Nail Polish

1. 15|Biscuit, £3.99

2. 72|Shell Pink, £3.99

3. 23|Mink, £2.99

All of these colours are so nice once they’re applied. Obviously I love them because they’re neutral, but I am quite fair and feel like they suit my skin tone nicely. The application is smooth and longevity is amazing! For the gels I just used a clear nail varnish for a base, and for the normal polish I used a clear nail varnish for a base and for a top coat.

Pure Colour Primer & Blusher

1. Mattifying Primer, £4.99

2. Pink Baked Blusher, £6.99

Firstly, the primer. So, the consistency reminds me of Benefit’s Professional (which I’m a big fan of), and a little goes a long way! It really is silky smooth and having combination-oily skin, I feel that it actually mattifies my skin. Finally, a product that mattifies when it says it will!

This blusher is great for everyday use. It’s very pigmented and you don’t need to apply much to get a rosy look. I am a big fan of highlighting/strobing (as I’ve mentioned before), so I absolutely love that this product has a shimmer to it which intensifies when you use a highlighter with it.

Out of all of this haul, my favourite products that I would recommend are; the Baked Blusher; the Camel Lipstick; and the Mattifying Primer. Let me know if you’ve tried any of the New Look cosmetics and what you recommend 🙂

New Look Haul|Pt.1

It’s way too cold recently, especially considering how mild it was throughout December! I ended up doing a Spring haul in New Look at the beginning of January, thinking we’d escaped the cold weather. Here’s what I bought (look at how the sun was shining!!):

  1. Top, £8.99
  2. Skirt, £14.99 – this was my best friend’s and sister’s favourite piece.
  3. Shoes, £29.99

  1. Top, £9.99
  2. Skirt, £17.99

  1. Top, £12.99
  2. Culottes, £14.99 – I bought these in petite, but they are available in regular! These were my favourite piece as they’re so comfy and versatile.

  1. Bag, £17.99 – this bag is actually multiway! You can use it as a backpack, cross-body, or shoulder bag.

  1. Jumpsuit, £22.99

I hope you enjoy this post and find some inspiration. Bare with me with the images as I’m still new to this and learning as I go! If you have any tips please let me know 🙂
